Wedding Venue and Event Planner Bookkeeping in Weber and Davis County, Utah
Know what's truly earned, pay your event staff right, and breathe easier in the off-season. Bookkeeping and Utah payroll on a schedule that fits your year.
Common bookkeeping headaches for wedding and event businesses
Deposits paid months ahead. A January retainer for a September wedding isn't earned yet, but it looks like it in the bank.
Refunds and date changes. Postponements, partial refunds and kept deposits all need clean records.
Seasonal and part-time staff. Servers, setup crews and coordinators come and go, and each needs correct Utah payroll.
Employee or contractor? Paying a worker as a contractor when they should be an employee can get costly.
Tips versus service charges. They're treated differently. Mandatory service charges count as business income, not tips.
Vendor 1099s. Florists, DJs and other vendors you pay may need a 1099-NEC by January 31.
The off-season crunch. Bills keep coming in winter while next season's money hasn't arrived.
How we help wedding planners and event venues
Deposit tracking you can trust. We track retainers and deposits by event, so you can see what's truly earned and what's still owed.
Clean cancellation records. Refunds, credits and moved dates are recorded clearly as they happen.
Seasonal payroll done right. Misty currently works as a payroll technician for a local government, and we're a Gusto payroll partner. We handle part-time staff, tips, Utah withholding and DWS quarterly reports. Payroll is for Utah businesses only.
Organized vendor records. W-9s collected up front, vendor payments tracked and 1099s prepared on time.
Quarterly or seasonal bookkeeping. Built around your busy season, with the same accurate books, payroll filings and 1099 reporting. Monthly is always an option too.
Tax firm experience and clean-ups. With 4 years of bookkeeping at a tax firm, we'll catch up last season and keep you ready for your tax professional.

Frequently asked questions
Should deposits count as income right away?
It depends on your accounting method. We track deposits by event either way, so you always see what's earned, and your tax professional can confirm the right treatment.
Can I get bookkeeping just a few times a year?
Yes. We offer quarterly and seasonal bookkeeping for event businesses, and monthly if you prefer.
Are tips and service charges the same?
No. Under Utah rules, a mandatory service charge belongs to the business, while tips belong to the staff. Payroll should treat them differently.
Do you handle payroll outside Utah?
Payroll is for Utah businesses only. Bookkeeping is available remotely nationwide.
Do my vendors need 1099s?
Many vendors who aren't corporations do. Form 1099-NEC is due by January 31, and we track vendor payments all year.
How much does it cost?
Every business is different. You get a custom quote after your free consultation.
